A few well
placed throw rugs are an excellent choice in a bedroom
-- But do you know why?
Throw rugs are
no more than small floor rugs, anything up to 3 feet x 5 feet.
They are generally used to decorate a piece of furniture, to
hang on the wall or used as a standard rug. Throw rugs can be
made from any material, but when used as a floor rug you should
select one that is able to stand up to the volume of traffic
it will encounter.
A few well placed throw rugs can dramatically change the
look of a bedroom for a very low cost. Simply place a rug
on both sides of the bed with one more at the foot of the
bed (choosing chenille rugs will give a fantastically soft
and luxurious feel). This is much cheaper than buying a floor
rug to cover the whole room, and would be a waste of money
as most of the rug would be covered by the bed, also for natural
fiber rugs you would face the threat of insect damage to the
unseen parts of the rug.
Throw rugs are an excellent choice when used as kitchen rugs,
as they can be placed in areas away from the main food preparation
zone, but still give color and life to the room. You should
be careful to choose a rug which is easy to clean, and preferably
has a non slip backing.
As you can see using throw rugs around your home can be great
fun and if used sensibly, can be much cheaper than buying
a room sized floor rug whilst still dramatically changing
the look of a room.
