Bath mats
and bathroom rugs sound similar -- But what are the differences
?
The main difference between bath mats and bathroom rugs is
that bath mats are designed to be placed in the wet zone of
a bathroom where they will be regularly drenched in water
after a bath or a shower. A bathroom rug is designed to be
placed in the dry area of a bathroom and it's main purpose
is to add color and style to the room.
When choosing a bath mat the main criteria is that it should
be an easily washable rug, cotton rugs are a popular choice
whilst square and oval rugs are generally the most popular
shapes. When choosing a bathroom rug look for it's aesthetic
qualities rather than it's functional properties. Remember
it's purpose is to add color and charm to the room, rather
than act as a foot towel.
For safety a bath mat should have a non slip backing, or
be naturally slip resistant. This will help to prevent any
injuries occurring when stepping onto the mat after a bath
or shower. A bathroom rug is less likely to be regularly stepped
on but should still be checked for it's slip resistance
